About Safety Patrol

The AAA School Safety Patrol program is the largest safety progam in the world.  It began in 1920 and has provided a safer environment and educational opportunities for school children who participate.  More than 654,000 children participate in over 34,500 schools throughout the country.

On November 7, 2018, Deerfield Elementary became the first school in Coffee County, including Tullahoma and Manchester, to implement the Safety Patrol.  Safety Patrol officers are responsible for escorting students to and from their vehicles.  They lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence every morning.  Lastly, Safety Patrol assists with monitoring behavior during the morning assembly.

Safety Patrol members are handpicked by Deputy Peterson, with the approval of their teacher, to be a member of the Safety Patrol.  These students are held to a higher standard of citizenship.  They are considered leaders of our school and set the example for others.
